Darren Very Happy With His NXV200 R2 Stereo Amplifier
So very happy with my NVX200 R2 based amplifier designed with Anthony at HPA. I replaced my Arcam FMJ power amp and the difference is incredible – so much detail was revealed that was previously missing and immediately all those superlatives I had read about top-end systems in magazines like Stereophile made sense. Truly a veil was lifted: attack and decay are massively improved and suddenly instruments such as piano, toms and even drummers hitting the side of the snare and woodblocks are so much, much more realistic. Other highlights for me include huge detail in the fretwork of guitar players sliding from chord to chord and almost too much noise from some vocalist’s mouths – when they are not even singing! I love it!Arguably DIY audio is not for the faint-hearted and it definitely takes a bit of time to realise, but IMHO the results are unquestionably more than...
Ole from Copenhagen Very Impressed With NXV200L R3!
Hi Anthony As you probably know, I have an amp based on NxvR200R2s. Subsequently I have bought 4 of the new HPA-nxV200L R3 Signature modules. I have now built-in two of them into the same enclosure as used for the R2s, using the same power supply.I am into the process of burning them in - another two are waiting to replace the amp boards in another amp.I must say that I am very very impressed. They seem to have everything the nxV200R2s have - only even more clarity, without compromising one of the qualities that make the nxV200R2 really stand out - their ability to not sound (too) bright as most solid state amps and deliver the energy in the all-important lower mid range (150-300 Hz?).Last night I found myself rocking to music that I have before barely noticed...You claim that the R3 modules have more power over the R2s. I...
Rob of Australia delighted with his NXV200 Signature Amplifier
Hi Anthony.Thank you for the privilege of building your NV200 R2 Signature kit. I spent 5 days learning new engineering skills, crimping skills and soldering.I have been a dedicated DIY valve amp fanatic for more than 50 years and dabbled with a few decent quality solid state amps in that time and had always been disappointed by the clear but harsh sound. My latest ‘home build’ valve amp is/was an ‘Output Transformer-less’ Transcendental Sound ‘Son of Beast’ running 12 valves including 8 largish EL509s.The sound is breathtaking and airy with a sound cross between solid state and valve and the transparency is spectacular.I had a sudden urge to build another amp. Not a valve amp, because I couldn’t see any way of improving my S.O.B system. After a week of research I came upon Holton Precision Audio which was in Tasmania. How could this be possible? The reviews for Anthony’s equipment were...
