Dennis Treager, South Australia HPA-nxV300 Mono Block Amplifiers
I purchased two of Anthony's older 80,000uf power supplies some time ago, but never got around to using them. Recently I purchased two NXV300 boards, two surge protectors and two speaker protectors with the intention of making monoblock amps. As the power supplies are fairly long, I had to design cases that would fit everything in with a minimum of wiring. As I intended to place the amps between my CDP/Pre amp and the speakers, I had the freedom to take the signal input to the front/inner sides of each mono amp (which are in "mirror image") and thus keep the signal leads well away from 240v and as far away from the transformer as possible. The surge and speaker protectors were "piggybaked" to keep compact, make their power supplies input simple(they are joined) and make mounting them easier. I used some "Per Anders" rectifier boards and 4 Pilllips dual...
Ralph's Custom Built HPA-NXV300 - Auckland, NZ
Overall architecture of the amp is that there are two completely separate power supplies in the smaller power supply enclosure that each power two nxv300 amp modules in the amplifier enclosure. The power is fed from the power supply to the amps by very heavy mains cable. I'm therefore bi-amping each speaker. The Amp has RCAs and XLRs. The small toggle between then XLRs and RCAs switches between them. The Amp also has 3 sets of speaker binding posts. The top set of binding posts is bi-amped for tweeters, and the bottom set for the woofers. The third set is passive and slaved off the second set for connection to a sub-woofer if that is requiredParts used include:4 * Conrad heatsinks4 * HPA-nvx300 amplifier modules4 * Speaker protection Units - LSP-11 * Softstart2 * PSU-Three power supply boards fitted with 60,000uf 100v caps2 * 600Va toroids- Cases were designed in a simple...
Øyvind of Norway HPA-nxV300 Power Amplifier
I ordered two HPA-NXV300s to replace the output-stage in my old LC audio (DIY) amplifier.I use a Yamaha surround receiver as pre-amp, and the nxV300 drives two Dali Lector 8 speakers. The sound is extremely clear and the bass is in perfect balance to the rest of the sound picture. Even though there is no problem driving your next-door neighbor crazy with this amplifier. The build quality is really good, and mounting the modules was easy. The installation manual is easy to understand, and it also gives a suggestion on how to wire your own power supply.-Øyvind, Norway
