Overall architecture of the amp is that there are two completely separate power supplies in the smaller power supply enclosure that each power two nxv300 amp modules in the amplifier enclosure. The power is fed from the power supply to the amps by very heavy mains cable. I'm therefore bi-amping each speaker.
The Amp has RCAs and XLRs. The small toggle between then XLRs and RCAs switches between them.
The Amp also has 3 sets of speaker binding posts. The top set of binding posts is bi-amped for tweeters, and the bottom set for the woofers. The third set is passive and slaved off the second set for connection to a sub-woofer if that is required
Parts used include:
4 * Conrad heatsinks
4 * HPA-nvx300 amplifier modules
4 * Speaker protection Units - LSP-1
1 * Softstart
2 * PSU-Three power supply boards fitted with 60,000uf 100v caps
2 * 600Va toroids
- Cases were designed in a simple drawing program and parts were emailed to a laser cutter in EPS format and all cut from 3mm aluminum.
- Aluminium was then sanded using 800 grit wet/dry paper with lots of water.
- Parts then powder coated and assembled
Note that the amp has a plate that raises the nvx300's off the bottom of the amp. There are ample ventilation holes in the mounting plate and these match the slots laser cut into the top and bottom case plates. Running the amp hard the heat sinks are not even warm to the touch.
The front of each case is 10mm mild steal cut on a laser cutter and then copper plated. This is purely decorative and the part I am least happy with. It looks OK but the plater did a very poor job of prepping the mild steel so that the flat surfaces are now dished. The copper plate also has a clear coat which is uneven and bubbled. I will probably replace the copper plate with power coated black or possibly Rimu wood to match the equipment rack.

- Cyrus preamp, CD player and Tuner
- Rega P3 turntable and phono amp
- Image revelation speakers
Overall I'm loving the amp. They needed a couple of weeks to really run in and warm up but sound fantastic.
